I dedicate this blog to volcanoes and lovely volcanic landscapes. I am not a geologist/volcanologist, just a person who enjoys beautifully rough and majestic volcanic scenery. The feeling of being in such an unpredictable and often dangerous area is certainly distinct and unforgettable. All photos by Bart.K

Olot Volcanic Field: Montascopa volcano
Montascopa pyroclastic cone is situated in the city of Olot along with three other volcanic cones (Garrinada, Montolivet, etc.) It was formed during the eruption 100 000 years ago. Montascopa has two watchtowers and the church around its well-preserved oval crater. Very beautiful place to see and visit. All photos were taken on 30th May 2016. Green volcanic cones of Olot kind of remind me Auckland volcanic structures in New Zealand.
Olot Volcanic Field: Croscat volcano
Another volcano of Olot (Garrotxa) volcanic field is Croscat. It's the highest and the youngest volcanic cone of Iberian Penninsula. It erupted 11 000-11 500 years ago. Its north-eastern slope was heavily mined, so for geologists and geophysics it's a rare opportunity to see the inner structure of volcanic cone.
