I dedicate this blog to volcanoes and lovely volcanic landscapes. I am not a geologist/volcanologist, just a person who enjoys beautifully rough and majestic volcanic scenery. The feeling of being in such an unpredictable and often dangerous area is certainly distinct and unforgettable. All photos by Bart.K

Various sightings of Vesuvius during my Ischia volcano trip, June 2019
Date of my Ischia trip: 31.05-07.06.2019
I didn't climb Vesuvius this time, but this famous volcano was my subsidiary goal. Main goals were exploration of Ischia volcano, Italy, visual and photographic documentation of Ischia fumaroles, lava domes and lava flows, climbing of Monte Epomeo.
I managed to take few unimpressive photos of currently closed Campi Flegrei too. Photos from Ischia Porto and Procida Island plus from the plane.
More photos will be added during next few days.

Monte Nuovo, Campi Flegrei, Italy
Cinder cone of Monte Nuovo formed during eruption in 1538, which lasted 8 days. The youngest volcano in continental Europe with very impressive (albeit heavily forested) crater. 26.04.2013.
Leaving Solfatara, Campi Flegrei, Italy
Where thermoacidophillic archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus dwells. Next stop: Monte Nuovo volcanic cone.
