I dedicate this blog to volcanoes and lovely volcanic landscapes. I am not a geologist/volcanologist, just a person who enjoys beautifully rough and majestic volcanic scenery. The feeling of being in such an unpredictable and often dangerous area is certainly distinct and unforgettable. All photos by Bart.K

Forested trails of Monte Rotaro crater on Ischia, 02.06.2019
Monte Rotaro (307 m.) is a well preserved volcanic crater, which is planted with the most beautiful pine forest of Ischia, the "Bosco della Maddalena". I especially wanted to see its fumarole called Il Cretaio plus some old vegetated lava flows.
