I dedicate this blog to volcanoes and lovely volcanic landscapes. I am not a geologist/volcanologist, just a person who enjoys beautifully rough and majestic volcanic scenery. The feeling of being in such an unpredictable and often dangerous area is certainly distinct and unforgettable. All photos by Bart.K

Vesuvius summit crater reached, Italy
The crater of Vesuvius volcano (1282 m) is 230 meters deep, and has a diameter of about 700 meters. It has weakly active fumaroles on one of its impressive walls.
